The candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in the November 6 governorship election, Dr Obiora Okonkwo, said on Wednesday that the party needed the support and votes of the Anambra people to change the state’s fortune.
He said Anambra had not progressed in terms of infrastructural and human capital development despite being governed by democratically-elected individuals since 1999.
Okonkwo said his party was committed “to change this poor development trajectory by winning the coming governorship election.”
Dr Obiora Okonkwo spoke during his unveiling as the candidate of the party with his running mate, by the National Chairman of the ZLP, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
Okonkwo said he is not happy over the state of affairs in Anambra State reason he entered the race for better Anambra.
Nwanyanwu called for a debate among the candidates ahead of the election, noting: “This will allow the people to know the agenda of the candidates.”
