Nwaegbu on-behalf of Make Nigeria Better Initiative Drags Femi Falana To ICC over #EndSARS Protest, Seeks $2bn fine.

Prominent lawyer Femi Falana has been dragged to the ICC over his alleged role in the #EndSARS protest – Joseph Nwaegbu, a lawyer who filed the petition against Falana, accused him of inciting the protesters –

Nwaegbu wants the ICC to investigate Falana and make him pay a fine of $2 billion as damages for the violence which trailed the protests to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in Hague for the alleged role he played in the #EndSARS protest.

The protest which was staged by youths against police brutality was later hijacked by hoodlums, causing violence which led to the loss of lives and properties. In the petition dated Wednesday, November 4, 2020, and addressed to Fatou Bensouda, ICC prosecutor, Nwaegbu said he was acting for his group, Make Nigeria Better Initiative.

He claimed that the protesters were responsible for the murder of about 22 police officers in different parts of the country. Nwaegbu urged the ICC to investigate Falana and compel him to pay $2 billion as punitive damages for causing death, destruction of properties and all other things caused during the protest.

ICC reacts Mark P. Dillon, head of information and evidence unit, ICC, acknowledged receipt of the complaints. He said the complaint will be considered accordingly.

Falana denies allegations Falana, in his reaction, said the petition was filed to divert attention from the alleged shooting of peaceful #EndSARS protesters. He, however, said the alleged ploy will not work as the ICC does not entertain frivolous petitions that are anchored on conjecture or speculation.
