The Ondo State police command has arrested A middle-aged man for raping a 10-year-old girl.
The suspect was reportedly caught in the act in the room of the girl’s mother in the Isolo area of Akure.
The suspect lives in the Edo Lodge area of Oke Ijebu but visits Isolo to see his wife who owns a shop in the area.
The mother of the 10-year-old, Mrs Yinka Romoke Babalola, said the suspect was caught in the act and has been handed to the A Division of the police command in Akure.
She said her daughter was taken to the hospital by the police for medical treatment and examination.
She appealed to the police authorities, the Ondo state government and civil society organisations to ensure that the suspect is prosecuted.
Police spokesperson Funmi Odunlami confirmed the arrest of the suspect, saying he will be charged to court immediately
