Election Tribunal: Nigerians In Diaspora Petition UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak

The  British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has received a petition from two civil society organizations comprised of  Nigerians living in the UK calling his attention to the ongoing Presidential Election Tribunal in Nigeria.Some Nigerians living in the UK are pleading with Sunak to demand that the Nigerian judiciary, national assembly, and executive uphold fairness, transparency, justice, and democratic principles and defend the Nigerian constitution and the 2022 Electoral Act as amended in the petition submitted on May 14, 2023, by the  PO support network (POSN) and Diaspora Action for Democracy (DAD).They pleaded with the Prime Minister to demand that the court rule fairly and credibly on the lawsuits the opposition candidates have brought, as well as to formally advise its Nigerian counterpart that it is interested in the proceedings of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.

The British government was urged to impose harsh sanctions on politicians who were discovered to have engaged in actions that were alleged to have tainted the February 25 presidential elections, along with their families and associates, according to the letter, which was signed by the group’s representatives, Dr.UdeinyaOnovo (Head of Strategy and Research Coordinator for POSN), and Dr. Innocent Nweke (Global Coordinator).
