#183inLagos is currently the number trending topic on Nigerian Twitter as Nigerians are reacting to the new COVID-19 statistics released out by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC.

COVID-19 cases in Lagos surged by 183, a record for the one state, on Thursday as Nigeria witnessed its highest number of infections in a day.

It is the largest number of cases to be confirmed in a day since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in the country on February 27, 2020.

NCDC last night disclosed that 381 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria. Of the 381 cases, 183 were recorded in Lagos alone. Lagos remains the epicentre of the viral disease with a total of 1491 confirmed cases.

Nigerians are reacting to the new data. Some of them have even called for the extension of the lockdown to avert the catastrophe looming.
