As you are crazy about Valentine celebration, What do you normally celebrate was it sex, or love, just asking a sisterly question, please? The choice is yours, but whatever thing it is, Valentine was for pure, unadulterated love, that kind of love that can only come from God to us and remember God said men are God to men on earth, so you and I can only do the work of God, so let’s show love, the way our God would show it if he was here, let’s love people for who they are and not for what they are. share love, not immorality. zip up that stuff now. The real meaning of Valentine’s day or lovers day, that day February 14th, in every year that we peruse the store shelves for the perfect gift or card for a loved one. According to Hallmark, more than 263 million cards—not including packaged gift’ valentines—are exchanged. sales are tripled And it’s not just an American phenomenon; like it uses to be. Valentine’s Day celebration has been extended to another part of the world today, I make to say that it is now a world wide event for all. then how did it all start?
We have stories like:
Some said, it originated from Catholic church in 1969, from a particular priest who showed an agape love, unquestionable love and unreserved love, without expecting anything in return, which made Roman calendar to make it an official worldwide feast, this highly sought after day is reserved for saints, this was made so that you and I can emulate them the saints and live according, which gave it the name St Valentine.
Some said is a priest in the Roman Empire who helped persecuted Christians during the reign of Claudius 11, was thrown in jail and later beheaded on Feb 14
Some said. is a Catholic bishop of Terni who was beheaded, also during the reign of Claudius
Some said, is for a particular lover who took their respectively Lives when the community refuses them to be together as lovers.
Whichever one you wish to choose the undertone story there, is LOVE, REAL LOVE!
The choice is yours, but whatever thing it is, Valentine was for pure, unadulterated love, that kind of love that can only come from God to us. and remember God said men are God to men on earth, so you and I can only do the work of God, so let’s show love, the way our God would show it if he was here, let’s share love, not immorality.
But what surprise me today is that Valentine’s day in my society has been turned into another thing, lifetime is now the day we celebrate immorality (sex)
People take people out then they end up in bed, what! is that love
People visit their loved ones to get involve in immoral act- SEX
Our hotels, chalet and guest houses make the big business lifetime that day
Yes i like it when love ones go out, sit out, share time together, remind each other about their feelings and promises, but it should be every week thing, to sit out and everyday thing to love, let me not say everyday thing for sitting out because of our economic situation, we got to work Nah, but not ones in a year thing.
In as much as it hurt me I can still count my blessings because I was among the few people who celebrated the real lovers day in my life, why in the 90’S my days in secondary school. oh, my God, it was fun and real, was yours that way too?
During my Secondary school days to be precise, was the days I had the best lovers day( VALENTINE’S DAY) of my life, why because those are the days we sincerely share and buy gift for people or people buy for us for real love, without each other knowing our self or expecting from either of us, seniors, juniors we like, love and appreciate their way, without them knowing it, we just take note of them and on that day we surprise them with gift, do you know, what kind of life that will bring into someone’s life. just think it then do it.
it all will start in the morning of that very day, 14th Feb, you will notice people giving a gift to each other, going from class to class, people getting gift from people they never know like or cared for them and not expecting any thing in return, not that one buys you a bottle of drink and expect something in return, what!
